This tool uses Shamir's secret sharing scheme, scrypt, and AES-256 to decrypt your vault key, then uses the key to decrypt your backup with AES-256.

Are you storing your cryptocurrency in an online wallet or exchange?

You are not in control of your own cryptocurrency.

Online wallets are a common target for hackers, and if the company that holds your coins gets hacked or closes their doors, you are likely to lose access to your coins.

You should use a desktop wallet or a hardware wallet. The backup methods on this site do not apply to online wallets.

  3. Enter the passwords for your vault key

    Enter at least as many passwords as is required by the vault key. The passwords may be entered in any order.

  4. Restore your wallet

    If you need to copy your secret information, write it onto a piece of paper.

    Follow your cryptocurrency wallet's instructions for restoring a backup from a recovery phrase or private key.

    After restoring your wallet, destroy the piece of paper that you wrote your secret information onto.

    If you are just testing if your backup works, follow the remaining steps on the backup page.
